Brown Piano Studio Youtube Channel

The BPS youtube channel is used to supplement piano lessons. You can find video tutorials of pieces that I have written for my students. I will often send students here to review a piece or a technique that we practiced in lessons. Included here is a video of the first blues piece I teach all my students!

    An excellent resource for music theory. Most of the lessons play like a game and are pleasing to the eye. Follow the link to work on note names, chords, ear training and more!

    Another Great resource for learning music theory. The quizzes are customizable and there are both lessons and exercises available.

  • Duolingo.com

    Although it was created as a website for studying languages, Duolingo now offers a courses in music and math, available only on smartphones. This is a fun and easy way to reinforce concepts that we learn in lessons.

  • Musictheory.net

    This website is dedicated entirely to ear training. Use this website to work on interval and chord identification.

What should I practice at home?

See the PDF below for some ways reinforce concepts that we learn in the first weeks of piano lessons. On the front page are many of the first pieces we will learn in lessons. Once your child starts reading music, their learning will become more independent, but to start out, there are many things you can do to help!
